The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) is the world's foremost provider of country, industry and management analysis. A leading research and advisory firm the EIU have more than 40 branches worldwide.
The EIU approached us to work with them to deliver their extensive Health of Nations research project, commissioned by GE's healthymagination, and present the data in a visually compelling and informative way through interactive maps, charts and graphs.
Working to a relatively tight timescale we initially met with the key EIU project stakeholders to identify the primary objectives and define an approach along with the key project milestones.
The solution needed to present detailed statistical data in a clear and engaging way to a largely corporate audience interested in world health analysis. Detailed wireframes mapped out important user journeys and highlighted how 3rd party technologies would be integrated and displayed on the site.
Working closely with the EIU, the primary objective for Soak was to ensure that EIU delivered a 1st class solution for their client GE, but more specifically we needed to:
The result of this project is a fantastic looking site that displays the wealth of statistical data available in a dynamic and interesting way, allowing users to drill down to country specific data across three core categories of research.
The project was delivered on time and on budget and has been incredibly well received by both EIU and their client GE.
In the first 2 weeks, the site attracted over 25,000 page visits with average users sessions in excess of 5 minutes.
James Watson, Managing Editor, EIU commented:
"I've been extremely impressed with the professional approach Soak took to this website project, from their initial efforts to gain a complete understanding of our overall objectives, to their smooth final migration of the website to our client's servers. And along the way, their consistently strong project management, creativity in overcoming both design and technical challenges, and good communication. They've been a pleasure to work with."
Denis McCauley, Director, Global Technology Research, EIU commented:
"Our experience in working with Soak on this project has been uniformly positive. Their solutions to the challenges we posed them were creative, and the result is a website that is attractive, functional, informative and, moreover, fun to use. Beyond their creativity and efficiency, the Soak project team were clearly dedicated to meeting and exceeding our requirements and bringing a project with a very challenging deadline in ahead of time."
