Project Detail

Harley Davidson has over 100,000 H.O.G. members across Europe, The Middle East and Africa.

Their existing image gallery was under performing on a number of levels and needed re-developing from the ground up.

The Harley Owners Group for Europe, Middle East and Africa wanted to create a new platform that showcased the Events, the Brand, and the Harley owners themselves.

Objectives

The new site needed to support and compliment the highly successful HOG Magazine printed edition, and perform against key success metrics agreed at the start of the project.

  • Display 1000s of images and videos to maximum effect
  • Stimulate dialogue by encouraging members to submit their own content and make comments
  • Inform visitors about upcoming events
  • Increase member registration and repeat visits
  • Be easy to manage and update using a central content management system

Working closely with Archant Dialogue we produced detailed prototype wireframes that mapped out key user journeys and fleshed out Harley’s social media strategy. When these had been tested final designs were progressed, and a phased rollout ensured the site would achieve maximum exposure for its launch in the summer of 2009.

Results

Although the site has only just launched, initial results have been excellent - with users spending an average of 9.23 minutes on the site, browsing over 30+ pages and downloading over 2,500 videos.

There are also lots of new add exiting modules to be added, including, a interactive ride planner that uses Google Maps technology - allowing members to plot, share and download their favourite riding routes straight onto their sat nav systems.
